What advice do you have to unstick particularly clingy friends (gently) that you have absolutely nothing in common with any more?

Thanks for you post, can you explain a little more about ''stuck''. Are you stuck to them, them to you? Who feels stuck?

Talk later,

Love ya, Jed

She's a totally over the top version of my former self. a bundle of nerves, hysteria, anxiety & do gooder save the planet type. I didn't speak to her for about a year but in the last few months she has popped up with incessant phone calls about her latest boyfriends infidelities with strippers etc. When I turn my attention to solving the riddle he manages to keep it in his pants for a couple of weeks and I'm free of the calls.

Initially i thought it might be a warning/reminder (we chose opposite paths after our similar 'events'. she and the event are a tale from long ago in a far off land to me) but I am not destined to repeat that pattern.

I asked for a less irritating & less cryptic clue. A copy of one of your books literally slapped me in the face so I figured you might have it.

Hi there... so I'm not getting the problem.

Sounds like someone is disrespecting your time and wasting it on their own drama... that's just plain rude.

Don't answer the phone, or if you do, when they starting talking about the drama, then you, with a very important tone or voice, say. ''Oh, crap, I left the soup on."   :o :o :o :o

Put down the phone (don't hang up!) then take the dog for a long walk...

If they contact you later and ask what happened, do exactly the same thing... I'm not joking. I don't have anyone in my world who disrespects my time because they know darn well what will happen. I have banned a number of poster for similar silliness.

If you don't have a bottom line, users will smell it and take advantage of you. I assure you.

And yes, this is all a dream and illusion, neither the human you nor your friend are real... but we appear to be here for the duration of humanness... I don't see much point in spending it as a doormat.

Also, please don't write back saying something like, ''Oh, I couldn't do that!''. You definitely can, but it's your dream and if you won't, then be honest and just say I won't do that and continue with your doormat status.

Love ya, Jed
