Enlightenment and Recollections of Grammar Lesson
« on: September 18, 2014, 11:02:37 am »
In grade 10 I won a Canadian nickel for identifying a gerund.

To me, seeking is a gerund. A gerund is sort of a noun and sort of a verb. Based on this idea, if I am supposed to be exploring the nature of seeking, that would mean that "the finger pointing at the moon" thing has nothing to do with the finger or the moon and everything to do with the pointing.

I am still trying to tie seeking in with my concept of awareness.

I also remember that Joel Goldsmith, although a mystic which probably means he wasn't enlightened, wrote about "ising." Because my mother read many of Joel Goldsmith's books and listened to his Kona lectures, she often talked about "ising." "Ising" would be a gerund. I can hear my mother now saying the flower is ising.

Maybe I have to redefine awareness?

As the mind focuses on objects and information, that means that the mind would focus on the flower. The mind might try to understand ising, but understanding gerunds isn't its function. I suppose that gerunds are recognized by awareness. Or is awareness the gerund?

Labels, labels; but labels of concepts and concepts are also objects that the mind loves to flirt with. I suppose that flirting is a gerund and is the link between awareness and the mind or something like that. Will ponder some more.
