LOOK inward???
« on: June 27, 2018, 07:45:09 pm »
Hi Jed,

so how the hell do I look inward? I meditate and self inquiry and all that but I realize all there is are perceptions and that includes my thoughts and emotions. When they say you need to look inward to find your true nature, the closest I can find are internal thoughts and emotions but even those are perceptions just like sights and hearings. So what is left? I cannot find anything else beside all these perceptions. The field that contains all of them? I understand that conceptually. But experientially I only experience perceptions. I know the movie is on the screen. But how do I perceive the screen without the movie?

Thanks!

Hi GHB:

Thank you for your post and questions. I think using Nisagardatta's approach might be best for you.

Contemplate the sense of ''I am''. You appear to exist, but how do you know what? What brings you to the conclusion that you are. Its the little ''I am'' which started to develop at about two years of age. Up until then, you saw everything as ''you''... but with the advent of language and people naming you and everything else... separation began.

Contemplate what you were a week before conception. Don't expect a miracle to happen in the first hour of contemplation. Find you ''I am'' and track it back. The way out is the way you came int. It took Nis about three years.

Patience is called for.

Love ya, Jed.
