Probably off topic; just some unimportant thoughts
Are we getting more psychologically reliant? Not a new thing to say, but it just occurred to me when I was walking in 90F heat. I was subconsciously complaining about the weather and wanting to get to somewhere with AC soon. Without knowing, I see air conditioning as a "basic requirement" and my mind starts bickering every time it's not met. People are doing fine in places where they can't afford AC! And they were doing fine before it's invented!
And smart phones. People used to be fine with not hearing from their loved ones for weeks, but now when they don't pick up after third ring or reply to text messages we get worried.
Strangely, instead of being blown away by how much our lives have changed for the better, we unconsciously "adapt" to the situation. And then we get annoyed when occasionally things we take for granted don't work (we even yell at printers and tv and computers for being "a piece of s h i t" when they stopped working).
It's ... strange
