Jed, love this rant. Hope you don't mind me adding my experience to this rant.

Myth 1: T/R will make you happy.
Who/what is happy? Only the ego experiences happiness (well being) or more realistically, self-worth (validity).
Truth has no needs, and therefore unconditional. Truth is doubtless, consistent, fearless, needless, reliable, honest, always present and available. Truth has the identical characteristics of unconditional love. Truth is the only reality and its expression/symptom is love. Unconditional love cannot be claimed, where ego claims whatever supports it, and its releif is felt as well being (self-esteemed through validity). I see self-esteem as ego-energy.

Myth 2: T/R will make you rich and money will just flow into your world.
Rich in love expression. A type of unclaimable gratitude. It comes from total acceptance. Without it there is no so-called gratitude. We cannot be grateful while we cannot accept something. It is the acceptance that allows everything to be. One may be rich in resources, but the TR does not claim it. So if the resources disappear, acceptance allows it to be, and so the resources has no bearing or value for Being. There is no ego investment in the resources. No "I have..."

Myth 3: You can get enlightened.
Ego cannot be killed while the human brain remains active. Ego is only a fabricated story, created by the mind, to it can make sence of itself. The mind won't allow losing its identity, or it will think it's losing its mind.

However, the ego can be calmed down by not investing in it. A sort of ignoring by letting go. Ego is expressed fear/tension, so its about melting that tension into a softness that is so fine that truth becomes unveiled. You cannot get, or claim, enlightenment. It appears, or becomes us, only if we vacate self, so there will be space for truth to take its place. In that vacancy there is no self to be enlightened. Truth, that fills the vacancy, is the enlightened.

Much like patience. We cannot get patience. But it can be experienced by doing nothing.

Myth 4: You must do something to achieve T/R
Love what Jed said.

There is a way to get the ball rolling. By being aware of the Love within the heart. When loving the Love that loves, it is like turning on a light within. Clarity and discernment, prevails.

Myth 5: T/R folks have a certain look, certain behaviors and can thus be discerned.
Like that bit from Jed "... and it's not up to you."

'Nature abhors a vacuum'  - Aristotle.
TR state can be variable. Those that become vacant of self create space for truth to move in. By this allowing, truth uses the body to express itself (love and light).
The light is invisible/uncreated. It is the radiance of love expanding light. This is what truth is. However, we do have a mind, and its thoughts can alter TR expressions of truth and love. Also, truth knows what is true in that allowed vacancy, where the self (dreamer) does not. That is the 'not up to us bit'. The TR becomes the servant of truth.
