Jed Rant: Aware of Awareness
« on: May 02, 2017, 01:52:49 am »
Dear Members and Lurkers:

I am frequently asked how can awareness be aware of itself. An eye can't look at an eye, an ear can't hear an ear, skin can't feel itself, only sensations presented to it. Keep in mind, I am speaking about the level of this dream, not Truth. Truth does not perceive anything, but contains all perception.

So, it's not unreasonable to ask how awareness could be aware of itself. In your own experience there is a sense that you are aware of things your senses present to you, correct? If you will look closely, it's obvious (within this dream of humanness) that you are aware you have awareness. This is awareness of awareness. It's very simple. Awareness can be aware of awareness and even aware that it is aware that it is aware... of itself.

Taking this a step further, as you look out upon the dream we call this world, awareness (BTW, it's not ''your'' awareness, it's the same in every human) is filled up with a variety of objects, more accurately they are hallucinations. They distract from a most amazing thing, the apparency that you are aware. What fills the senses is taken to be the important facet when it is insignificant compared to the illusion that you are aware, and further, that you appear to be aware you are aware.

What is purpose of all my noise, well... I suggest you focus on the fact that you do appear to be aware and are aware of that appearance. If you can focus enough on it you may well get to the truth of that illusion. There is no such thing as awareness, there is no one or thing that could ever be aware and yet, awareness does appear.... all within a dream and nothing more. The way out is through. Don't try to think your way out, that doesn't work.

“Don’t try to understand! It’s enough if you do not misunderstand.”

Realizing i can go no further than aware of being aware was a weird moment. I think it killed spirituality for me, most human pursuits and probably well me. Weird weird weird.

Since that im just rambling on and around, whatever and whoever is this all appearing.

I'm beyond optimistic... I just wanted to touch the rainbow icon and see what happened.  Anyway, I am what is aware of awareness.  Do your fingers ever get tired of pointing to the pointless?  :D <3

When I hold my focus on the truth of being aware of being aware then there is nothing; yet after a while there is a sensation of expanding and a sort of floating.  Perhaps it's just a trick of the mind? It is an enjoyable trick, this sensation. Then I'm aware of myself enjoying the feeling so my mind is back commenting on the experience. Grrr. When I ask myself, what is the Truth? it doesn't seem to matter at all.

Hi, My first post here.
I come from the direct path. Really enjoy your aproach.
Sometimes some kind of grace come to me, and allow me to stay aware of being aware all the time. It happened 3 times. In the 3 cases i messed up by using drugs. Im learning about it. The next time it comes to me so efortlessly, i will not use drugs. But i can see that having certain stability at least at the beginning is very important.

I want to add a specific question.
Rest in awareness in that way. Only knowing the experience of being aware in all moments. Is it just enough? It must reveal itself?
I know that im doing right because the subprducts of that kind of attention are evidents.
But when i see my body as an other character in the movie, realising that the others beings are just others caracters of myself in others cinema theaters, the peace is greater than the aware of being aware aproach. But i can not maintan that view as much as with the being aware of being aware.
Do would like to see your comments about it.

I am aware of an object, which is one. I am aware of two objects, which are also one (a unity), otherwise I could not be aware of both at the same time. I am aware of an activity, which is also one (perceived as one thing, although it may be seen as a series of correlated events). I see myself within a context, which are also one, or else I could not be aware of their unity. But I still don't know what I am.

Excellent realization sitting there. Does a tree know it's a tree... or an ant know it's an ant?

Love ya, Jed.

P.S. I too don't know what I am, but I know that Truth Is. One can arrive at the latter knowing by pursuing the former.

Dear Koann:

I suggest you just wait and see what arises for you. Be open to anything that comes up.

Love ya, Jed.

So, Winston, who is it that finds this somewhat daunting?

Not trying to pretend to be wise, or act coy, but if you cut this "you" out of the story, there simply is awareness being aware... I see no problem with that.
