I wonder why nobody mentioned The Matrix...yet )))
It was my first such movie.
I watched 13th Floor many years later, but it also is in the list.
The Inception also is such a movie for me because it opens the question: Am I dreaming? It this a dream? What is real?
Truman Show is also in the list.

But to answer the original question of Jed's first post here: The Matrix is my first and favourite. When I first saw it, I hadn't fully understood the concept of the movie yet, I was 12 years old... But there was this amazing feeling like: "Whoah... What was that??? I wanna see it again right now." It was the year 1999... It was the first movie that was very very different from what I saw before.

I do like a lot the movie Andrej Rublev from Andrej Tarkovskij. There are some YouTube links but it is better to see Tarkovskij work on bigger screen and as well it seems like a good idea to have bigger contextual knowledge - not only of Tarkovskij style but as well of Andrej Rublev time and work. It is not movie to be understood on the first time watching. The reason I like it is Very personal. I have seen it in the samé year when I was unofficialy accepted on academy of fine arts when i was turningsixteen - they could not accept me because the law did not support skipping the high school ať that time. I was Very desilusioned by the art world back than, maybe samé as i am now with the spiritual world. I really love this scene where the guy who did the bell tell to the Rublev (i think) “he did not give me any secret, he took it to his grave” ( not exact quotation , did not see the movie for years); and the old men tells him: “enough,it was enough”, hugging him while the guy cries. But there are many layers of this movie. I am painting and drawing (or I specialized ať this) so it is amazing to see the Rublev  coloristic work. I feel Very sad by all those waves of postconceptualism, reminds me the fakeness in spirituality — people who do not know how to draw a line or circle and they are superimportant. Rublev know ať least those basics, how to draw a line or circle and much much more - so impermanent, fragile, yet untouchable work. And the proces how Rublev was ať first under the infouence of his teacher and how he switched.... but he was not at least lacking the humility and the basics of craft...Even how the Tarkovskij is speaking about this movie is Very interesting. Sorry if its too long what I write. Its Very contemplative movie. Its not easy to understand ať first...

Jed, please tell us more about truth, it's been a while since you ranted last. I want to hear more about it, although I am it. (if anything can be said about it)

I read some poetry by Sohrab Sepehri. he had expressed TR very beautifully, maybe sharing favorite poetry will be next?

Two privileged 30-somethings are living together in a fancy apartment that their rich parents pay for.

One is diagnosed with a terminal illness while the other lands an internship and suits up to enter the workforce.  The whole "escape from society" thing from a reverse angle.

Great for tuning the sense of "what do I do with this life?" and stretching ideas of morality in the face of death.

The series West World must have been created by an awakened (non)person. The idea that suffering is the ingredient that makes us lucid, and that letting go of our stories and memories of suffering as a catalyst for freedom.

Fight Club also must have been made by some one already awakened. If you listen to the commentary with the author of the book and the writer of the screenplay it's blatantly obvious that the auther is wandering blindly through his own dreamstate while the screenplay writer is wide awake. So so so much beautifully expressed truth in this movie.

Jed,
If you've seen West world or fight club will you comment? Is it likely that the makers are actually awakened? Could they have purposefully sprinkled bits of truth into these shows? I'm always wondering about this

Not about nothingness, but about somethingness:

Disney's "Pinocchio" is a good overview of this wonderful life's adventure. Maybe more for guys than girls.

Lungin's "Ostrov" if you're grieving. This world's drama is much more beautiful and diverse than your meditation guru or Tim Ferriss would let you to believe. So many beautiful storylines possible. When you finally look back, your life is a beautiful tapestry you've woven through tears, doubts, disasters, joy, laughter and sorrow.

I have a serious soft spot for I Heart Huckabees. It's totally fluffy, but it's fun. How am I not myself?  ;D

For me,  this scene of the movie Toy Story  is the perfect description of waking up from delusion:
