I can define free will as doing what I want at any moment.

Yeeeeah!!!
Lian, thank "you" so much!
The key component for me was "at any moment".
Offcourse! Now my mind sees, that it cannot control itself at ANY moment. Even the wish to control came only NOW, not 2 hours ago. The wish or intent also arises only when it arises. Not at ANY moment, but only when it's "time".
I see now that I don't control myself. Even this understanding is not my achievemnt. It just happened. Not when I asked for it, but when it happened.
It hurts a bit, but is also liberating.

This is another prove that our posts can be VERY helpful to each other. You never know what can click in your mind. Just TWO  words and the next door is opened and another illusion is recognised and destroyed automatically just by understanding. Total mind f**k and I love it. Wow!  :D :D :D :D

Example of typical inner dialogue in the mind or between two characters:
- I can quit smoking whenever I want.. At any moment!
- Oh yeah? Do it now!
- Now I don't want it, but if i did, I would quit immedieately!
- Really? So, Right now do it! Want it right  now. Make this action of wanting right now!
- Well...Eeeehhh... mmmm.... I don't want to want.
- Ahahahah!!!

Love, Artyom.

Your weak will power is not confirmation that free will does not exist. I quit smoking because I wanted it. Sorry about your lack of self control.

In this context self control over addictive behavior is done by strengthening awareness and not lapsing into unconscious behavior. I've demonstrated that even with leaving this forum for a time in order to discover “truth” myself rather than being indoctrinated by a guru. As it pertains to free will I've therefore proven to myself that free will does in fact exist unless it's not claimed and or there is some sort of disociation issue with the individual where they lack the ability to take ownership of their behaviors and refuse to be accountable in any way which is further seen through as a coping method when dealing with traumatic life experiences but a major hindrance towards making any sort of positive changes moving forward.

At that point one is just simply subject to being a victim of unconscious behavior and will continue to shift blame to some unknown or unseen force. Complete disempowerment of the individual which then leads to victim conciousness. To each their own..just not exactly my cup of tea.

What specifically is this ''individual'' that you refer to? I fail miserably at finding such but and certainly open to suggestions.

Love ya, Jed.

About six months ago i was convinced of the idea i quit cocain and gambling. Last saturday i woke up with nose full of **** and an empty bankaccount. I was suprised, because i didnt expect to make that mistake ever again. I chose not to do it. But when the right buttons are touched, im gone. Now my so called free will is taking my ass to a clinic to dive into the field of addiction to find out how this fucker keeps getting me down. Sometimes there is no grip. And then there s a verry violent way of learning. But still... there's learning.

There certainly is nothin static in me(yet). But the consequences of this dynamic form i am are really there and are my responsibility. Its just not fair 😁

Relapse in behavior is indication that you don't truely want to quit. No biggie but pure intention is all it takes. You decide then you do. Kinda like I don't want to set myself on fire so I choose not to. It's really that simple.

You dont truly want to or truly dont know how to? If you where raised by wolves, how is het possible to behave human? Have human values, borders.. if there is no foundation at all? If there was no example? Then... if you grow a few addictions, getting rid of them is called learning on the job. And then sometimes you crash and learn about that.  Get your ass up again and practice what was learned. Story of my life. The way certain patterns are triggerd is , sometimes, quite complicated and it shoots you in the head like a sniper.

How to quit - do not do it.

Everything else is your reason for why you don't want to. Like I said pure intent. Simple,  not easy.

I cannot agree. And actualy i dont get the feeling that you know what you are talking about at all. Ask a skitzofrenic to just quit acting like that. Ask someone who had a stroke to start using the right side of his face again... but ill be back here to tell you i was wrong and you were right if that is going to be the outcome of this story. Thats what its all about in the end, isnt it?

What made you decide to come back here j?

Remember, miracles are just sufficiently advance technology that we have yet to grasp. Now, did I make that up or remember it... I can't remember... either way...  ::) ::) ::)

Love ya, Jed.

The "thing" that brought me back here was me. My decision. As is it when I leave. As it pertains to you it doesn't matter what I think. What matters is what you "know." For what it's worth I can tell you how your story will go based on what you've expressed here. But hey no problem. I seem to be getting clearer all the time that I need to hone in on myself and clear distractions. Thanks for the chat.
