Agreed, just horsing around, but you must admit, playing the role of a Zen master who gets to wack students who come to him with anything other than, what cannot really be stated, but conveyed nonetheless, would IMHO< be fun, but probably only the thought of it, appears to be fun. Im just goofing around Mr Frits,

To be able to lie, one must know the truth.

To be able to lie only requires that a human open their mouth and utter a few words. Humans are the people of the lie. It keeps them in the dream. However, lies get a bad rap, they don't have to be malicious, then can be entertaining, joyful, fun and loving. A good story is just a good lie, your memory is a massive collection of lies. Just watch what people say and never believe them, of course, you should never believe yourself as well. Your 'self' is possibly the biggest lie of all. It's completely made up.

And, one last point, never believe me. Find out for yourself, that's the only intelligent way to do it. Now go and be intelligent.

Love ya, Jed.

This think for yourself thingy feels impossible for me, first of all, there is no self to think, second of all there is no free will to think, and third of all thoughts just arise, sense of self also just arises, out of where? still not sure about that. anyway, I know why you emphasize thinking for yourself because you don't want us to be fooled by what seems to be outside influence like other people (still our creation), is there any other reason you emphasize thinking for ourselves?

I've been doing thinking for myself whole life but still I'm not sure if any of that have been truly myself.

Dear Alig:

What you say is certainly truthish, but the challenge is you don't have the awareness of which you speak at a cellular level. It's very different when a belief, thought, concept or teaching has been so absorbed that it becomes a genuine realization of your True Nature.... and...

Of course your self has never thought for itself, it can't because it's just running a program. However, your Self has always been thinking, but not for you, for You. It's a little like the difference between true and Truth. A world of difference... or more like a universe of difference.... or an infinitude of differences. But one has to see for themselves... even though neither exist. It's just the way it is.

Love ya, Jed.

Yeah I guess you mean I've been always thinking to keep myself alive and but thinking for me (as opposed to Me) it should work towards the not survival of the b.s self but the annihilation of it? something like S.A in which one writes the beliefs and disproves them?

It shouldn't work toward anything, it will work towards what it works toward.

I can't grasp what you mean by that right now, Maybe it will sink in after a while so I'll give it time...

sa, for me, is not about writing beliefs and disproving them.
rather, it is about honing in on beliefs so they can either be let go or consciously re(enter)tained,
in the fashion of adjusting boundaries.

Good stuff... by why re-entertain a belief. Why not just drop it completely and then go  on to the next one?

useful point.
reflecting on it, i can see the automatic thought that snuck by, the thought that one somehow needs belief(s) to play human.
it seems i've recognized the untruth of that particular thought before, but after several days of observing what arises without any belief (or need for belief), i'm grateful to have unrealized it again.

thanks for the question.

When you turn awareness back on itself, instead of the constant outward search, use the mind to assess what arises within rather than being distracted by every passing external concept, belief, book or guru, you take the first real step into S/A. From there the snake begins to devour it's own tail, it's only a matter of time before everything that seems to comprise "you" is seen for the inconsequential mesh of nothing it always was.

Hello,

James is the name. Older guy age 67. Ah, remember the 60's?

Curiously, following posts to enhance curiosity.

Appreciate many of the responses and JM responses. Been a full can of tomato soup.

As a question arises I'll share.

Create a great day. And a Hardy Marty.

Sorry if this is off topic, or not, but I remember pondering, what is inward, then the words of, Well why not bring it out in front of you, so you can have a better look at it, came my way. Just saying.  ::)
